Outlook on December 14th-February

Good evening everyone!   We have a lot to talk about tonight!
(If you would like to make a picture bigger, click on it!)

There is currently a system in the South West Corner of the United States. This will dump snow in places like New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. In some places, Winter Storm Advisories and Warnings are already posted.

The Pink is Freezing Rain Advisory.
The Blue is Winter Storm Warning.
The Light gray is Winter Weather Advisories.
The DARK gray is Dense Fog Advisories.

This could dump up to 12+ inches of snow in some areas! This system will continue to track North and East, but slowly. This means heavy, flooding rains will come with it. Most areas will receive 1-3 inches of rain, with some places up to 4!
Around Monday of next week, this storm should be in Central U.S. More flooding rains will be brought with it, but also the chance for snow in some areas. Depending on the track, and how much cold air will be drawn in from this storm, will depend on where and how much falls. Here is my current thinking:

I am not predicting any amounts yet, but it could be something to watch!
After that storm, it looks to be mild until Christmas eve.  Models show a storm developing in the South East and tracking North.
Some models show temperatures being cold, but with all rain, but some show it being some snow! We will continue to watch that!
In the West, it looks to be mild as well, with the exception of the mountains, NM, and AZ.
Just to make the East Coast feel better, this is what the EURO shows on the 23rd of December :DD
Not saying this would happen, just saying the potential is there!

Things LOOK to stay cold after Christmas. Also, the NAO also looks to be going negative.
A pattern change is coming! Just not anytime soon.

Also, if you have not seen it, here is a map for the chances of a white Christmas!
This is just a general outlook, and will change as we get closer to Christmas. So stay tuned!

 EARLY LOOK AT JANUARY:

First week in January looks to be cold.

January 3rd-8th below average temperatures across all of the east coast. Maybe a  Storm?

January 9-10th- Average Temperatures

January 11th-13th Big warm up, (SE Ridge)

January 15th - January 23rd will have a lot of Clippers and storms. Cold air will slowly spread the region from West to East.
Breakdown:
Above normal Temps January 15th-17th.
Normal Temps  on the 18th
From January 19th-23rd it will be around average temperatures

January 23rd-25th will finally turn colder for the East Coast.

The Week of January 23rd will MOST LIKELY be our first sustained week of cold of the Winter Season!!!

February is still up in the air... could be warm or could be cold. My best bet is the cold air will stick around for a while...

That is all I have for tonight! Thanks for reading!
